Shell blanks are solid shell pieces cut flat to specific
thickness.
Standard thickness sizes - 1mm, 1.3mm, 1.5mm - 0.04",
0.05", 0.06". Some shell types yield thicker material - 2mm, 2.5mm,
3mm, 3.5mm, 4mm - 0.079", 0.98", 0.118", 0.138", 0.157"
Processed to mixed size (irregular shape) "shell slabs" or further
processed to specific sizes. Sold by weight or by piece.

Used in traditional inlay applications as well as for knife handles,
jewellery, musical instrument inlay, furniture, buttons and other
decorative applications.
All shell blanks are flat and uniform in thickness unless otherwise
specified.
